Redemption Cafe

The Café services are currently closed to the community due to COVID.  Please check back for announcements of when it will be re-opening.

Redemption Café is a social hub connecting of a wide variety of programs offered at The Salvation Army’s Centre of Hope. Salvation Army volunteers make sure the coffee is always on and a listening ear is always available. Open from 8:30. to 11:00 a.m., Monday to Friday, the Café provides breakfast free of charge in a safe, clean environment.

Clients have opportunity to sign up to meet with case planners, Nursing, Outreach or family services.

On Mondays we have a certified mental health counsellor from 9am to 12pm and Thursdays we have an Income Assistance worker who assists people with any issues pertaining to the Ministry of Social Development.

For members who live outdoors or in substandard accommodations, the Café provides facilities for laundry and showers.   The Café is also a place to relax and make some new friends.

Planned Activities

The Activity Coordinator works with café clients Monday to Friday from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.    Foot care, social outings, arts and crafts and bingo are all part of the programming.

Bingo

Bingo is offered on Wednesdays at 1:00pm.

Practicum and Work Experience

College and university students enrolled in studies such as Nursing, Social Work and Counselling improve their skills and help clients in a safe setting.

Parish Nursing

We have full time Licensed practical Nurse who offers medical care  at CoH.  We have a registered Nurse who comes in 3 days a week and have recently opened a walk in clinic on Thursday afternoons where medical doctors come in an treat clients who may not have the adequate identification to find Doctoral care at a walk in clinic.

On duty five days a week, our parish nurse and skilled volunteers provide personal and health care services free of charge to those with few options. Care and first aid for battered feet, blood pressure clinics, diabetes and STD information and testing, vaccinations and flu clinics are all offered.
